For her second solo exhibition at KALI Gallery in Lucerne, Lulu Cora Süss presents a new body of sculptural work exploring embodiment, transformation, and the unstable space between recognition and estrangement.

Motorcycle exhaust pipes, chains, handbags, rings, and domestic objects are cut, welded, sewn, cast, and reassembled into uncanny hybrid forms. Materials traditionally associated with machinery, aggression, masculinity, or everyday utility are taken apart and given new lives — their meanings loosened, their identities made fluid.

At the heart of Süss’s practice is a fascination with the body as something that is never fixed, but continually shaped, altered, performed, and desired. Transformation becomes not a process of correction, but a form of authorship: a way of reclaiming the right to reshape surfaces, identities, and meanings. The sculptures inhabit an in-between state, refusing clear categories of masculine and feminine, natural and artificial, familiar and monstrous.

Rather than seeking resolution, Süss’s sculptures remain beautifully unresolved — bodies and objects in transition, asserting that what appears unnatural may simply reveal how constructed the idea of “natural” has always been.
