The presentation at the 2026 Miart Milano Art Fair is dedicated to a new series of works by the young Swiss artist Jason Rohr (*1999), marking his first solo exhibition in Italy.
First shown in Zurich in 2025 under the title Warp Drive, the series will be continued and contextualised internationally at Miart in the Nilradicals presentation, which will feature new works developed specifically for the fair. The pieces explore the aesthetics and symbolic remnants of accelerated consumer culture. Rohr's starting point is animal emblems from the automotive industry, which he transforms into surreal, reflective visual and object landscapes. The result is a body of work oscillating between industrial perfection and painterly gesture, smoothness and vulnerability.
The title Nilradicals metaphorically refers to states of upheaval and inner exhaustion within highly optimised systems. In mathematics, the term denotes elements that cancel each other out — an analogy to the motifs of the series, in which speed, progress and consumption reveal their own emptiness. These new pieces intensify this tension, functioning as visual spaces of reflection between precision and fragility.
