Lucca Süss is an emerging artist whose practice explores themes of identity, representation and appropriation.
Her sculptures, which often consist of found everyday materials, unfold complex, queer narratives. The materials, which originally played a functional or everyday role, are transformed through their recontextualisation and take on expanded, subversive meanings. Süss' works reflect the transitional processes of trans people who are in a continuous state of change - a state that is also present in the bodies of her sculptures.
After completing her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in 2023, Süss has presented numerous exhibitions and performances in recent years. Her works have been shown at the Villa Renata in Basel, the Zentralwäscherrei Zurich and KALI Gallery Lucerne, among others, and she has been represented in international projects such as the performance with Monster Chetwynd in Milan and her participation in the Sculpture Triennial Bad Ragaz.
In spring 2025, Lucca Süss will receive various studio grants, including from the City of Zurich Culture and the Canton of Zurich.
Lucca Süss lives and works in Zurich (CH).
