Barbara Davi CH, b. 1971

Barbara Davi develops her artistic works, which include installation, photography, and collage, in constant interaction with each other. Engagement with found materials and space is central to and often the starting point of her artistic practice.

"Specifically in the case of her spatial installations, she engages as constructively as intuitively with the given architectural structures, traces of use, found furniture, and possible views. Consequently, she develops her subtle interventions that, with colors, pictorial elements, and precise, often delicate sculptural placements, evoke imaginary spaces and surprising perspectives, allowing the space, through the overlaying of the composed elements, to be perceived as a kind of pictorial apparition. Conversely, in the pictorial planes of her collages, another important area of Davi's work, she creates imaginary worlds and unreal spaces whose illusionistic effect is due in no small part to the broken geometric composition principles." – Max Wechsler
